Description
The philosophy of the BOCKSHAUT is to embody the history of the house and the city. As the oldest and one of the last houses of this kind in Darmstadt, it represents a house and jewel that has long been known beyond the borders of Darmstadt. To decorate the guest rooms (dining room and cider tavern), many old Darmstadt pictures and objects.Also on the menu you can see the Connected the house. Only German food, beers and wines can be found here. The goods are freshly sourced predominantly from the own region. Cooperations with "Hessen á la carte" and „Im Landkreis der Genießer“ characterize the high status of these guidelines.In addition to the restaurant, the BOCKSHAUT today also houses a 3 star hotel. The house was honored in 2010 by the federal government as a national winner with the title "Historic Inn". In 2015, monument protection was recognized as a German cultural monument.

This is my favorite hotel and restaurant in Darmstadt. You can certainly stay at a more modern and fancier hotel than this, but the Bockshaut is right downtown, and kind of charming. The restaurant is excellent! I do indeed feel that this is the best restaurant in the city. The owner takes an interest in his guests and makes sure they are well taken care of.

I was fairly pleased with my meal, the service was good. The English menu has a lot to be desired. A bit on the pricey side for lunch.

I come here once a year from USA this is the highlight of my trip I look forward to it all year especially the goose around Christmas. Always get the house special you won't be disappointed. The sauce (gravy) is better than the 5 star place my wife worked at even she agrees.
